Basketball Game Preview: Wekiva Mustangs vs. DeLand Bulldogs

Having just played yesterday, the Wekiva Mustangs will jump right back in to play the DeLand Bulldogs at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. Wekiva has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with five straight defeats, while DeLand will come in with six straight victories.

Wekiva saw some tournament action on Thursday. They had to suffer through a 54-24 loss at the hands of Williston. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 293rd, while the Red Devils are ranked 24th).

Wekiva's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Tiana Washington, who posted seven points and five rebounds, and Julissa Miles, who had four points.

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for DeLand against Rockledge on Friday as the team secured a 60-21 win. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 23 points or more this season.

Wekiva's defeat dropped their record down to 3-10. As for DeLand, their victory bumped their record up to 8-3.
