Softball Recap: Cajon Finds Home Field Redemption Against Redlands East Valley

There's no place like home for Cajon, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Redlands East Valley Wildcats with a sharp 9-2 victory on Thursday. The Cowboys might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by six runs or more this season.

Neveah Smith spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Rylee Torres, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Nadine Juarez, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Cajon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Redlands East Valley only posted an OBP of .192.

Cajon pushed their record up to 5-7 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Redlands East Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-12.

Cajon has already played their next matchup, a 4-1 win against Warren on the 12th. As for Redlands East Valley, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 11-0 loss against Yucaipa on the 15th.
