Arvin has gone 9-1 against South recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Bears will look to defend their home field against the Spartans at 4:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
On Tuesday, Arvin earned a 12-7 victory over North. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bears.

Alex Nunez was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over 6.2 innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Daniel Ramirez, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Fabian Pedroza, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Arvin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .550. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North only posted an OBP of .303.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask South). Everything went their way against West on Tuesday as they made off with a 23-10 win. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by six runs or more this season.
Josh Encinas made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). Encinas was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in two of his six plate appearances.
In other batting news, South got a massive performance out of Alex Portillo, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Portillo has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Jose Bojorquez was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in five of his six plate appearances.
Arvin pushed their record up to 6-6 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for South, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.
Arvin beat South 6-2 when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Do the Bears have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Spartans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
