Basketball Recap: Lutheran West Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Lutheran West can now relate to. They fell just short of the Hubbard Eagles by a score of 47-44 on Saturday. The Longhorns' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hubbard to victory, but perhaps none more so than Layla Songer, who posted 16 points and seven rebounds. Those seven boards gave Songer a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Adalyn Manzo, who earned two points in addition to six steals and five rebounds.

Lutheran West's defeat dropped their record down to 8-14. As for Hubbard, their victory bumped their record up to 10-12.

Lutheran West does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Hubbard, they will take on Elyria Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
