Softball Game Preview: Sheridan Yellowjackets vs. Hot Springs Trojans

Sheridan has gone a perfect 7-0 against Hot Springs recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Yellowjackets are taking a road trip to challenge the Trojans at 5:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Hot Springs will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Sheridan extended their winning streak to four on Tuesday. Everything went the Yellowjackets' way against Arkansas as they made off with an 11-1 win. That's two games straight that the Yellowjackets have won by exactly ten runs.

Cooper Terry looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Mason Wilson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Skylar Sterritt, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Hot Springs got their first taste of in-conference action on Tuesday and they started things off strong. They were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over Pine Bluff. The victory continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Zebras: they've now won three in a row.

Sheridan's win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Hot Springs, their win bumped their record up to 3-4.

Everything went Sheridan's way against Hot Springs in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Sheridan made off with a 20-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Yellowjackets since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
