Moorpark has gone a perfect 10-0 against Ventura recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. Moorpark will welcome Ventura at 11:00 a.m.

Moorpark lost 11-1 to Simi Valley on Wednesday.

Moorpark saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gary Lockwood, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that Lockwood snagged this season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ventura). Their pitchers stepped up to hand Buena a 12-0 shutout on Friday. The win was familiar territory for the Cougars, who have now won three matches in a row.

Caleb Sebek made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Wylan Nelson, who scored three runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Carter Kimble, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one triple and one run.

Ventura was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. The last time their batting average was this high was back in February of 2024.

Ventura's victory bumped their record up to 6-4-1. As for Moorpark, their loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-5.

Moorpark was able to grind out a solid win over Ventura when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 7-3. Will Moorpark repeat their success, or does Ventura has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
