Baseball Game Preview: Brighton Cardinals vs. Bartlett Panthers

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Brighton Cardinals duke it out with Bartlett Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Brighton has four straight wins, Bartlett has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Tuesday, Brighton made easy work of Millington Central and carried off a 13-3 victory. With that win, the Cardinals brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.

Brenden Killinger made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out 11 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.

In other batting news, Brady Ray was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Richard Lazure was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and one run.

Brighton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .556. They are 3-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Bartlett had taken Briarcrest Christian down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Tuesday. Bartlett fell 7-2 to Briarcrest Christian.

Brighton now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Bartlett, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-5-1.
