Football Game Preview: Schuyler Warriors vs. Pierce Bluejays

The Schuyler Warriors will venture away from home to take on the Pierce Bluejays at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Schuyler will be strutting in after a win while Pierce will be coming in after a loss.

Schuyler took a 33-point defeat the last time they faced off against Wayne, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, the Warriors made off with a 23-22 victory over the Blue Devils. The Warriors' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

The critical scores for Schuyler came from Nolan Andel, Daniel Guerrero, and Iker Lara.

Schuyler didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Lara and Chris Ardeano. Ardeano has been hot, having also posted five or more total tackles the last eight times he's played. Another thorn in Wayne's side was Marcos Gomez, who made 14 total tackles (1.0 for loss).

Meanwhile, Pierce didn't have quite enough to beat Lakeview on Friday and fell 21-19. The game marked the Bluejays' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Pierce's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Schuyler, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-7.

Schuyler was taken down by Pierce 48-20 in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Warriors were down 42-6.
