Baseball Recap: Canyon Springs' Luck Changes for the Better on Wednesday

Canyon Springs came into Wednesday's contest having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the Democracy Prep Agassi Campus Blue Knights on Wednesday. That's more bragging rights for the Pioneers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Caleb Worthy made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double.

In other batting news, Canyon Springs let Jahir Colmenares and JJ Johnson run wild. Colmenares went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Johnson went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs. That's the most runs Johnson has posted since back in March. Isaiah Rogers was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one double.

Canyon Springs always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Canyon Springs' win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 4-12. As for Democracy Prep Agassi Campus, they dropped their record down to 1-11 with the loss, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.
