Baseball Recap: 17 Straight Home Victories for Bloomfield Christian School

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Plymouth Christian Academy, Bloomfield Christian School was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Lapeer Lakers Homeschool Lakers, sneaking past 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Defenders have posted since April 28th.

Parker Barnes and Charles Busch made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Barnes pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Meanwhile, Busch pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave Barnes a new career-high in strikeouts (five). At the plate, Barnes went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI, while Busch went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other batting news, Jordan Antone and James Busch did most of the damage at the plate: Antone went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI, while James went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI. Antone is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played. Owen Thomas was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one triple and one run.

Bloomfield Christian School kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Bloomfield Christian School pushed their record up to 17-2 with the win, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Lapeer Lakers Homeschool, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
