Recap: Calhan Bulldogs vs. Colorado Springs School Kodiaks
The Calhan Bulldogs scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They blew past Colorado Springs School 45-6 at home. The team's offensive explosion also rewarded Calhan with their most commanding win of the season.
Leading Calhan to victory were Kailey Peterson and Aubrie Waugh. Peterson scored five points along with seven rebounds and two steals, while Waugh scored nine points along with six steals. Peterson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was Fallyn Mallette, who scored seven points along with three steals.
Calhan used a slightly different lineup for their bout with Colorado Springs School. Three players got more time on the court than they're used to: Mallette (15), Becky Jones (eight), and Emma Webb (13). The trio had averaged 4.91, 2.67, and 4.44 minutes respectively before Tuesday's contest. Mallette made the most of the opportunity, scoring seven points along with three steals. A few more games like that and she might be seeing even more time going forward.
Calhan's victory bumped their record up to 3-9. As for Colorado Springs School, they dropped their record down to 3-9 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.
Calhan will be playing at home against Twin Peaks Charter Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Twin Peaks Charter Academy will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Calhan surely won't give up without a fight. As for Colorado Springs School, they will be playing at home against Simla at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Colorado Springs School comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 16 points in their last four games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
