Basketball Recap: Lawrence-Nelson Victorious

Lawrence-Nelson won the last time they faced Hampton, and Wyatt Frey did his part to make sure it happened again. The Lawrence-Nelson Raiders greeted the New Year with with a 56-39 victory over the Hampton Hawks thanks in part to Frey, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 boards. His evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

Despite the defeat, Hampton saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Rylee Scheidemann went 5 of 7 on his way to 14 points. Those 14 points gave Scheidemann a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Porter Dose, who posted six points and five rebounds.

Lawrence-Nelson now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Hampton, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.

Lawrence-Nelson didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 59-17 win against Franklin on the 4th. As for Hampton, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 58-56 victory against Meridian on the 3rd.
