Baseball Recap: Valor Christian's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Valor Christian came into Tuesday's game having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Chatfield Chargers on Tuesday, sneaking past 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Eagles have posted since March 13th.

Brigham Brown spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up 12 Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Valor Christian is 2-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 1-8 otherwise.

At the plate, Valor Christian's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Travis Kenz, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI. Cody Dean was another, scoring a run and stealing two bases.

Valor Christian's win bumped their record up to 3-9. As for Chatfield, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season.

Valor Christian will have a chance to go back-to-back against Chatfield: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
