Northeast Corner - Big School Top Player Performances of the Week

Congratulations to this week's top players! We're covering the best performances from Friday's football action (using all statistics entered as of the time of writing). Enjoy!

Breckan Maran Crosses Big Stat Threshold

Fairfield was led to victory by Breckan Maran, who turned in his biggest game of the season on Friday. Maran rushed for 244 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 13.6 yards per carry. He's now once again averaging 100+ rushing yards (108.3) per game. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in rushing yards.

Churubusco's probably not too fond of Maran given he always seems to get the better of them. Maran rushed for 146 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries the last time he and the Eagles duked it out back in October of 2023.

Carson Mickem put up the most rushing yards he's had since back in October of 2023 on Friday. He rushed for 155 yards and two touchdowns, and also picked up 43 receiving yards. He didn't just play on offense: he also picked up a sack and made seven total tackles.

Lakeland is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-4. Mickem and Lakeland will venture away from home to take on Garrett at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Hawk Hasselman Delivers Electric Performance Vs Eastside

Angola found a leader in Hawk Hasselman as the squad took down Eastside on Friday. Hasselman did his part (and then some), rushing for 162 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries for the 'W'. His longest rush was for an impressive 63 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.

For the year, Hasselman has averaged 53.2 passing yards per game. He is looking even better than he did last year: after nine games last season, he was only averaging 6.11 passing yards per game.

Blake Metzger Makes It Two for Fairfield

The second Fairfield player making an appearance here is Blake Metzger, and for good reason. He rushed for 94 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries, and also picked up 31 receiving yards and a touchdown. He also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making ten total tackles and defending a pass.

Churubusco had to have seen this coming; the last time they saw Metzger it was a similar story. Back in October of 2023 (the last time Metzger saw the Eagles), he rushed for 168 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.5 yards per carry.

Estil Pruitt Makes Top Five

Rounding off our Top Five is Estil Pruitt of West Noble. Pruitt rushed for 154 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries. His longest rush was for an impressive 51 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.

If history really does repeat itself, Pruitt might just drop another big game when he faces off against Angola on Friday. Pruitt rushed for 291 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 8.8 yards per carry the last time he and the Hornets duked it out back in September.
