Baseball Recap: North Fork Victorious

North Fork proved they can win big last Saturday (they won by seven) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Meeker Cowboys 7-5. That's more bragging rights for the Miners, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Bronson Hall and Joe Hollembeak did most of the damage at the plate: Hall went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double, while Hollembeak went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave Hall a new career-high. Braden Laiminger also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.

North Fork's record is now 7-5. As for Meeker, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 1-6-1 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. North Fork will host Olathe at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Pirates will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Miners surely won't give up without a fight. As for Meeker, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Moffat County at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
