Basketball Recap: Cleveland Rams vs. Fuquay - Varina Bengals

Even though the Cleveland Rams have not done well against the Fuquay - Varina Bengals recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Cleveland enjoyed a cozy 59-41 victory over the Bengals. That's another feather in the cap for Cleveland, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.

Cleveland was led to victory by Angelia Dunn and Nevaeh Cannon. Dunn scored 18 points along with six rebounds and five assists, while Cannon scored 19 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Dunn is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 12 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Martina Paz-Aquino, who scored six points along with two steals.

Fuquay - Varina lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Chloe Webb, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Kenzie Smith, who scored 12 points.

Cleveland's win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-8. As for Fuquay - Varina, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four matches, which lines up perfectly with their 5-15 record this season.

Cleveland won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Pirates at 6:15 p.m. on January 31st. Hopefully Corinth Holders focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Tuesday.
