Baseball Recap: Danville Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

While Danville's victory against Midd-West wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Ironmen narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Mustangs 8-7. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 16-3 on April 7th.

Lincoln Diehl and Matthew Acor did most of the damage at the plate: Diehl went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run, while Acor went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI. Cole Duffy was another key player, getting on base in two of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Danville pushed their record up to 12-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Midd-West, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Danville will host Mount Carmel at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Midd-West, they will welcome Milton at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Mustangs are facing the Black Panthers at the right time seeing as the Black Panthers are stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
