Volleyball Recap: Southwestern Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Southwestern was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Carrollton Hawks. If the Piasa Birds were looking for revenge after losing 2-0 to the Hawks when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Southwestern started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. The final score came out to 22-25, 25-20, 25-19.

Southwestern's loss dropped their record down to 10-14-2. As for Carrollton, they are on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 17 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-4-1 record this season.

Southwestern has already played their next match (against Vandalia), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Carrollton, they are taking a road trip to challenge South County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
