Basketball Recap: Rank Disadvantage No Problem for Caney Creek

Caney Creek pushed their score to 42 the last time they played Lumberton, but on Saturday they couldn't quite do it again. The Caney Creek Panthers walked away with a 35-24 victory over the Lumberton Raiders. The win was all the more spectacular given the Panthers' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1229th, while the Raiders are ranked 544th).

Caney Creek's victory bumped their record up to 4-11. As for Lumberton, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Caney Creek will take on College Park in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lumberton and Silsbee will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Silsbee knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Lumberton likes a good challenge.
