Cardinal Newman has gone a perfect 10-0 against Maria Carrillo recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. While Cardinal Newman's win against Rancho Cotate wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Cardinals had just enough and edged out the Cougars 3-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cardinals.
Cardinal Newman saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Miles St. Clair, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Maria Carrillo, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They put the hurt on Piner with a sharp 12-2 victory on Monday. The Pumas haven't had any issues with the Prospectors recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Landon Diehm looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.
On the hitting side, Maria Carrillo got a massive performance out of Eli Jamieson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two doubles. Those four RBI gave Jamieson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Charlie Toig, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Maria Carrillo was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .469. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Cardinal Newman now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Maria Carrillo, the victory got them back to even at 11-11.
