Basketball Game Preview: Southeastern HomeSchool Cardinals vs. New Life Camp Storm

Southeastern HomeSchool and New Life Camp are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2021, but not for long. The Southeastern HomeSchool Cardinals will challenge the New Life Camp Storm at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Tuesday, Southeastern HomeSchool beat Southeastern Christian Academy 66-53. Given the Cardinals' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 123rd, while the Warriors are ranked 336th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Southeastern HomeSchool's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Blake Batts, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 17 points and five assists. The match was Batts' fourth in a row with at least ten points. Rayne Schoonmaker was another key player, going 6 for 11 en route to 14 points.

Southeastern HomeSchool smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in nine consecutive games.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask New Life Camp). They claimed a resounding 87-43 victory over Faith HomeSchool. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Storm had established a 27 point advantage.

Southeastern HomeSchool pushed their record up to 21-4 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.7 points per game. As for New Life Camp, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-10 record this season.

Southeastern HomeSchool strolled past New Life Camp in their previous matchup on Friday by a score of 65-46. The rematch might be a little tougher for Southeastern HomeSchool since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
