Baseball Recap: Prattville Triumphs

Prattville posted their closest victory since March 28th on Tuesday. They skirted past the Hillcrest Patriots 4-2.

Mason Piper was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. He has become a key player for Prattville: the team is 5-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 7-18 otherwise. Piper was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run.

In other batting news, Aidan Urnis was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. Prattville is undefeated when Urnis posts two or more runs, but 9-19 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Hayden Lantz, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one double.

Prattville's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-19. As for Hillcrest, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 21-13 record this season.

Prattville will have a chance to go back-to-back against Hillcrest: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
