Basketball Game Preview: JSerra Catholic Lions vs. Montgomery Aztecs

Having just played yesterday, the JSerra Catholic Lions will jump right back in to play the Montgomery Aztecs at 3:50 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

JSerra Catholic's tournament run continued when they took on Eastside Catholic on Thursday. JSerra Catholic was the clear victor by a 70-49 margin over Eastside Catholic. The Lions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 21 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Montgomery put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Poly by a score of 53-42. Given the Aztecs' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked second, while the Bears are ranked 109th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

JSerra Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 11-3. As for Montgomery, they pushed their record up to 12-0 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

JSerra Catholic strolled past Montgomery in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 by a score of 67-53. Will JSerra Catholic repeat their success, or does Montgomery have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
