Basketball Game Preview: Mountain View Mavericks vs. Eagle Mustangs

Mountain View and Eagle are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2019, but not for long. The Mountain View Mavericks will take on the Eagle Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Last Friday, Mountain View lost to Rocky Mountain on the road by a 51-34 margin. The Mavericks have struggled against the Grizzlies recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, Eagle humbled Meridian with a 76-29 victory. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' Idaho basketball rankings (they are ranked fourth, while the Warriors are ranked 92nd), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

The victory made it two in a row for Eagle and bumps their season record up to 13-4. As for Mountain View, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-12.

Mountain View took a serious blow against Eagle in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, falling 61-33. Can Mountain View avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
