Illinois Top 25 high school football scores: A.J. Henning leads top-ranked Lincoln-Way East past Niles Notre Drame

Third-ranked East St. Louis puts up 70 on Rock Island and No. 6 Loyola Academy escapes with one point win over No. 15 Glenbard West.

A.J. Henning accounted for all three touchdowns as top-ranked Lincoln-Way East (Frankfort, Ill.) rolled to a 23-13 win over No. 11 Niles Notre Dame in Illinois Class 8A playoff action on Saturday.

Henning scored on a 1-yard run, then connected on touchdown passes of 41 and 9 yards to Kyle Quinn as the Griffins (11-0) jumped to a 23-0 lead in the second quarter and was never really threatened.

Lincoln-Way East now takes on No. 5 Homewood Flossmoor, a 38-22 winner over 14th-ranked Neuqua Valley.



There were several other key playoff games highlighting state-ranked team, including No. 3 East St. Louis putting up 10 touchdowns in a 70-28 win over Rock Island.

Fourth-ranked Chicago Mt. Carmel rolled to a 34-14 win over No. 18 Glenbard North and in the game of the day, No. 6 Loyola Academy fought back from a 27-14 fourth-quarter deficit to pull out a 28-27 win over No. 15 Glenbard West.
