Baseball Game Preview: Leuzinger Olympians vs. Serra Cavaliers

The Leuzinger Olympians will venture away from home to square off against the Serra Cavaliers at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Leuzinger's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past Morningside 27-0. Winning may never get old, but the Olympians sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Serra, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They put the hurt on Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences with a sharp 12-0 win on Saturday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Cavaliers considering their one-run performance the contest before.

ISAIH MOLINA and MARC EMMERMAN did most of the damage at the plate: MOLINA went 2-for-3 with one home run and one double, while EMMERMAN went 2-for-3 with one triple.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Serra lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since the start of last season.

Serra is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Leuzinger, their record is now 7-3.

Leuzinger suffered a grim 17-6 defeat to Serra in their previous meeting back in March of 2017. Can the Olympians avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
