Basketball Recap: Colleton County Takes a Loss

Colleton County extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 12-11. They took a blow against the Beaufort Eagles, falling 85-50. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 69-31 on January 9th.

As for Beaufort, the victory was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 16-4. They have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matchups by 25 points or more this season.

Beaufort found their leader in sophomore Jania Hayward, who went 9-for-15 en route to 25 points and five steals. Hayward has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last ten times she's played. Amirah Brown was another key player, putting up 17 points along with five assists and five boards.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Colleton County is set to challenge their familiar foe Bluffton at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Beaufort will square off against rival Bishop England at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
