Softball Game Preview: Schaumburg Saxons vs. Lake Forest Scouts

After both having extra time off, the Schaumburg Saxons and the Lake Forest Scouts will shake off the rust and duke it out at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Schaumburg is headed into Wednesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game dating back to last season last Friday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of Addison Trail.

Madison Mueller made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in runs (two).

Meanwhile, Lake Forest unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They lost 22-5 to Grayslake Central two weeks ago. The defeat continues a trend for the Scouts in their meetings with the Rams: they've now lost four in a row.

LaMartin Natalie was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Houghtaling Abbie, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one double.
