Volleyball Recap: Lakewood Starts Season with Loss at Home

Lakewood unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They came up short against the Tri-Valley Scotties on Monday, falling 3-0.

While Lakewood ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 19 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-19, 25-19, 25-20.

Their offense was headlined by Hannah Molter and Melena Brunner, who picked up five kills apiece. They got some help from Josie Lynch and her 21 assists. Finally, Jaycie Montie kept Lakewood's defense grounded, leading the team with seven blocks.

Lakewood and Tri-Valley will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Lancers will square off against rival Newark Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Tri-Valley is set to face off against their familiar foe Maysville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
