Softball Recap: Borah Takes a Loss

Borah suffered their closest defeat since April 9, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Rocky Mountain Grizzlies by a score of 6-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Grizzlies this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 20-6 back in March.

Justice Pruitt spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits.

At the plate, Anna Hedt and Reese Naylor did some serious damage despite the final result: Hedt went 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI, while Naylor scored a run while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Maggie McMullen, who went 3-for-4 with one double.

Borah's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 3-12. As for Rocky Mountain, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Borah will challenge Mountain View at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Lions' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mavericks have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season. As for Rocky Mountain, they are taking a road trip to square off against Ridgevue at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Grizzlies are facing the Warhawks at the right time seeing as the Warhawks are stuck on an 11-game losing streak.
