Basketball Recap: Claire Wilson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Thunderridge over Highlands Ranch

After flying high against Douglas County last Tuesday, ThunderRidge came back down to earth. The ThunderRidge Grizzlies fell 50-39 to the Highlands Ranch Falcons on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Grizzlies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 65th, while the Falcons are ranked fifth).

ThunderRidge lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Claire Wilson, who posted eight points and five boards. She is also on a roll when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy, as she's posted one of at least 50% in the last four games she's played. Candace 'Cc' Baker was another key player, putting up 12 points and five rebounds.

Highlands Ranch's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tori Baker led the charge by posting 12 points and five assists. What's more, Baker also posted a 67% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's achieved since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jayda Rogers, who had eight points along with eight boards and three steals.

ThunderRidge now has a losing record of 11-12. As for Highlands Ranch, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-3 record this season.

ThunderRidge will challenge Poudre at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Poudre has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. Highlands Ranch does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
