Softball Recap: Butler County Triumphs

Butler County came out on top against Owensboro Catholic on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run seventh inning. The Bears won by a run and slipped past the Aces 13-12. That's two games straight that the Bears have won by just one run.

Butler County got a massive performance out of Emmalin Mode, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI, one triple, and one double. That triple marked the first that Mode has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Karrington Hunt, who went 2-for-5 with two runs and two RBI.

Butler County's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-10. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Owensboro Catholic, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Butler County will take on Apollo at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Owensboro Catholic, they will be playing at home against Daviess County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers' pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so the Aces' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
