Softball Recap: Great Bend Triumphs

It may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Great Bend ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 victory over the Pratt Greenbacks. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Greenbacks recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Chayla Prendergast spent all ten innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up ten Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Camdyn Post, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances. DeShawnna Bryant was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-5.

Great Bend's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Pratt, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Looking ahead, Great Bend will venture away from home to square off against Liberal at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Pratt, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Nickerson at 4:00 p.m. on the 17th.
