Baseball Game Preview: Gretna East Griffins vs. Lincoln Northwest Falcons

The Gretna East Griffins will challenge the Lincoln Northwest Falcons at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Gretna East's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Lincoln Northwest's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Monday, Gretna East didn't have quite enough to beat Gretna and fell 7-5.

Gretna East got a good showing from Drew Barratta, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Barratta has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Carson Herrmann made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nolan Green, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs.

Meanwhile, Lincoln Northwest had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They had just enough and edged out Holdrege 11-9. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Falcons considering their two-run performance the contest before.

Gretna East's defeat dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Lincoln Northwest, their victory bumped their record up to 7-13.
