Basketball Recap: Bella Hall's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Anthem Prep over Maryvale Prep

Anthem Prep lost against Maryvale Prep back in November of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Anthem Prep Eagles took a 26-22 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Maryvale Prep Matador.

Anthem Prep's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bella Hall, who posted nine points along with five rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Madi Hatfield, who scored five points and ten boards.

Even though they lost, Anthem Prep smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Maryvale Prep only pulled down six offensive rebounds.

It was another big night for Amaya Myers, who earned eight points and 12 rebounds for Maryvale Prep. Myers has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last nine times she's played. Areli Cortez was another key player, putting up three points and five boards.

Anthem Prep's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Maryvale Prep, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-1.

Anthem Prep didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 50-14 defeat against Salome on the 16th. Maryvale Prep has also already played their next contest, a 29-20 victory against North Phoenix Preparatory Academy on the 17th.
