Highlands is 8-2 against Newport Central Catholic since January of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Highlands Bluebirds will be playing in front of their home fans against the Newport Central Catholic Thoroughbreds at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Highlands' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

Meanwhile, Newport Central Catholic was beaten by Covington Catholic 73-43 on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Thoroughbreds can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 126th, while the Colonels are ranked fourth).

This is the second loss in a row for Newport Central Catholic and nudges their season record down to 7-10. As for Highlands, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-5.

Highlands didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Newport Central Catholic when the teams last played back in January of 2024, but they still walked away with a 75-71 victory.
