Recap: Enfield Eagles vs. Manchester Red Hawks
The Enfield Eagles struggled with threes on Monday (the Manchester Red Hawks had five more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Enfield fell just short of Manchester by a score of 52-49. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Enfield of the 51-48 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January.
Despite the defeat, Enfield had strong showings from Sydney Marshall, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds, and Kendall Coffey, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Hosig, who scored six points along with six assists and five rebounds.
Manchester got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Tiara Tyson out in front who scored 14 points. Elise Ryan was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five rebounds.
Enfield now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Manchester, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-7.
Enfield will look to defend their home court on Thursday against East Catholic at 6:45 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Connecticut (East Catholic is ranked 61st, while Enfield is ranked 55th). As for Manchester, they will head out on the road to challenge Edwin O. Smith at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Manchester is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 58.2 points per game this season.
