Safford and Pusch Ridge Christian Academy are an even 5-5 against one another since September of 2019, but not for long. After both having extra time off, the two teams will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, Safford didn't have quite enough to beat Empire and fell 3-2.
In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Safford sadly dropped the once that decided the match. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-11, 24-26, 25-20, 8-25, 15-13.

Despite the defeat, Safford had strong showings from Jazzlyn Mortensen, who had 11 digs, four aces, and one block, and Kai-Lee Cordova, who had 19 digs and two aces. Mortensen is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 19 or more in each of the last three games she's played. Rhylie Klajda also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.
Meanwhile, Pusch Ridge Christian Academy got the win against Palo Verde last Thursday by a conclusive 3-0. The win continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Titans: they've now won eight in a row.
Pusch Ridge Christian Academy's victory bumped their record up to 14-9. As for Safford, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 12-10.
Safford came up short against Pusch Ridge Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, falling 3-1. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
