Baseball Recap: Del Oro Drops Highest Score of Season Against Oak Ridge

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Del Oro). They put the hurt on the Oak Ridge Trojans with a sharp 13-3 victory on Thursday. This was payback for the Golden Eagles, who suffered a 3-2 loss the last time these two teams met.

Kael Lumbert was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. Lumbert was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. What's more, he posted two doubles, the most he's had since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Masen Belding was a standout: he scored three runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Carson Moore, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-5.

Del Oro was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .441. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Oak Ridge only posted a batting average of .214.

Del Oro's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 14-6. As for Oak Ridge, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.

Del Oro will challenge Lincoln at 4:30 p.m. on the 18th. As for Oak Ridge, they will square off against Benicia at 10:00 a.m. on Monday. The Trojans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season.
