Volleyball Game Preview: Babcock Trailblazers vs. Everglades City Gators + How To Watch

The Babcock Trailblazers will head out on the road to square off against the Everglades City Gators at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Babcock will be strutting in after a win while Everglades City will be coming in after a loss.

Babcock is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Naples Classical with a sharp 3-0 victory. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Trailblazers as it put an end to their four-match losing streak.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Babcock was: they took every set by at least 14 points. The final score came out to 25-8, 25-11, 25-5.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Babcock to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jaylene Collazo, who had 16 assists and seven aces. Collazo is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in each of the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was Marley Ankrom-Smith, who had eight aces.

They weren't the only good servers: Babcock was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 32 aces. They are 10-3 when they serve at least ten aces.

Meanwhile, after a string of six wins, Everglades City's good fortune finally ran out last Tuesday. They came up short against Marco Island Academy, falling 3-0.

The match finished with set scores of 25-11, 25-13, 25-10.

The victory got Babcock back to even at 13-13. As for Everglades City, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-3.

Babcock took their win against Everglades City in their previous meeting back in September of 2023 by a conclusive 3-0 score. Will the Trailblazers repeat their success, or do the Gators have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
