Baseball Recap: Mcallen Wins Going Away Against Mcallen Memorial

McAllen not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since March 6th (when they won 12-2). They put the hurt on the McAllen Memorial Mustangs with a sharp 8-2 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 5-0 on Tuesday.

McAllen got a great performance from Sam De La Fuente as he struck out ten batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Those ten strikeouts gave De La Fuente a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Fernie Olivarez was excellent, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run. Another player making a difference was Sean Lara, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for McAllen and bumps their season record up to 6-17-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. As for McAllen Memorial, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-13 record this season.

As of now, neither McAllen nor McAllen Memorial have any future games scheduled.
