Volleyball Recap: Winneconne Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Winneconne couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Xavier Hawks on Thursday. The Wolves' defeat signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Xavier scored at least 17 points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-17, 20-25, 25-18.

Alyssa Koval paced Winneconne's offense, picking up 15 kills. Koval got some help from Bailey Church and her 29 assists. Church was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Winneconne's defeat dropped their record down to 23-8. As for Xavier, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 30-10.

As of now, neither Winneconne nor the Hawks have any future games scheduled.
