Volleyball Recap: Angeline Academy of Innovation Triumphs

It was close, but on Tuesday the Angeline Academy of Innovation Archers sidestepped the Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate Phoenix for a 3-2 win.

Angeline Academy of Innovation had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 18-25, 25-20, 25-16, 15-12.

Angeline Academy of Innovation found their leader in sophomore Mia Root, who had 15 digs and four aces. Root is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in each of the last five games she's played. Meredith Winn also deserves some recognition as she served her first aces of the season.

Angeline Academy of Innovation was lethal from the service line and finished the match with ten aces. They are 4-1 when they serve at least ten aces.

Angeline Academy of Innovation's victory bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6.

Looking ahead, Angeline Academy of Innovation will venture away from home to face off against Fivay at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-0 loss against Tampa Catholic on the 24th.
