Rush City's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 77-74 victory over the Braham Bombers. The Tigers' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
Several Bombers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tyler Eklund, who to rack up 31 points along with eight assists and six rebounds. Eklund's big performance that evening made it 13 games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. Soren Lilly was another key player, shooting 5-for-9 from downtown and dropping a double-double with 28 points and 11 boards.
Rush City's win bumped their record up to 5-17. As for Braham, their loss dropped their record down to 19-6.
Looking ahead, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Tigers take on the Jaguars at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Rush City knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matches -- so hopefully Hinckley-Finlayson likes a good challenge. As for Braham, they will head out on the road to square off against Browerville at 5:45 p.m. on Friday.
