Basketball Game Preview: Throckmorton Greyhounds vs. Newcastle Bobcats

The Throckmorton Greyhounds will head out on the road to take on the Newcastle Bobcats at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Throckmorton has struggled recently with nine losses in a row, while Newcastle will arrive with five straight victories.

Throckmorton saw some tournament action on Friday. They lost 41-16 to Muenster. While losing is never fun, the Greyhounds can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 991st, while the Hornets are ranked 188th).

Meanwhile, Newcastle got the win against Strawn on Saturday by a conclusive 50-29. The Bobcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 20 points or more this season.

Newcastle is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a massive bump to their 11-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.4 points per game. As for Throckmorton, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-12.

Throckmorton came up short against Newcastle in their previous meeting back in January, falling 48-42. Can Throckmorton avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
