Baseball Game Preview: Clearfield Bison vs. Greater Johnstown Trojans

The Clearfield Bison will head out on the road to face off against the Greater Johnstown Trojans at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Clearfield will be strutting in after a win while Greater Johnstown will be coming in after a loss.

Clearfield came out on top against Bishop Carroll on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run third inning. The Bison's pitcher stepped up to hand the Huskies a 10-0 shutout.

The team relied heavily on Kam Kushner, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one run. He is becoming a predictor of Clearfield's success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is 2-1 (and 5-7 when he doesn't).

Meanwhile, Greater Johnstown lost 9-1 to Tyrone on Friday.

Greater Johnstown saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Heinz Petak, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.

Clearfield's victory bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Greater Johnstown, they dropped their record down to 3-14 with the defeat, which was their 21st straight on the road dating back to last season.

Everything went Clearfield's way against Greater Johnstown when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Clearfield made off with a 10-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bison since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
