Volleyball Recap: Mound City Starts off Right with Win over Union Star

Mound City took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Tuesday. They blew past the Union Star Trojans 3-0. The Panthers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Trojans, too.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Mound City took every set by at least 12 points. The final score came out to 25-11, 25-4, 25-13.

Miranda Reiger paced Mound City's offense, picking up 17 kills. Reiger got some help from Maggie Osburn and her 15 assists. Osburn was also solid from the service line: she led the team with six aces.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Mound City is set to square off against their familiar foe Rock Port at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Union Star will face off against rival East Atchison [Tarkio/Fairfax] at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. This will be the Trojans' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
