Basketball Game Preview: Franklin Academy Huskies vs. Massena Raiders

The Franklin Academy Huskies will take on the Massena Raiders at 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Franklin Academy will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.

Last Saturday, Franklin Academy got the win against Brushton-Moira by a conclusive 57-34. Given the Huskies' advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 186th, while the Panthers are ranked 648th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, it's playoff time, and Massena had no trouble coming through when it counted. They secured a 52-46 W over Gouverneur on Thursday.

Massena's win came from a few key players Franklin Academy will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Chris Boyea, who on his way to 22 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. Thanks to that strong game, he now owns an excellent 45.9% field goal percentage. Another player making a difference was Taylor Mitchell, who posted 11 points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Franklin Academy's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.0 points over those games. As for Massena, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-13.

Franklin Academy beat Massena 59-51 in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Will Franklin Academy repeat their success, or does Massena have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
