Basketball Game Preview: Alta Hawks vs. Green Canyon Wolves

Alta is 0-3 against Green Canyon since December of 2019 but things could change on Saturday. The Hawks will square off against the Wolves at 5:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

It was a Battle of the Birds when Alta duked it out with Maple Mountain on Tuesday. The Hawks came out on top against the Golden Eagles by a score of 69-61. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Hawks.

Alta got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Olivia Stephens out in front who posted 21 points. The matchup was Stephens' third in a row with at least 19 points. Another player making a difference was Alia Baldassano, who had 19 points.

Meanwhile, Green Canyon hadn't done well against Corner Canyon recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Wolves blew past the Chargers 74-44. The Wolves pushed the score to 50-30 by the end of the third, a deficit the Chargers had little chance of recovering from.

Alta now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Green Canyon, their win bumped their record up to 3-0.

Alta came up short against Green Canyon when the teams last played back in November of 2024, falling 59-47. Can the Hawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
