Basketball Recap: Penney Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Penney, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They walked away with a 66-57 win over the Wellington-Napoleon Tigers on Tuesday. The Hornets have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Tigers, too.

Wellington-Napoleon's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jonny Hampton, who posted 16 points and five boards, and Jace Mefferd, who had ten points. The dominant performance gave Mefferd a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Jackson Waterworth, who earned eight points.

Penney's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Wellington-Napoleon, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Penney will host Mid-Buchanan at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Mid-Buchanan's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. Wellington-Napoleon will take on Lexington in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
